Light floods into this brick and flint farmhouse from all sides. The calm blue-grey lacquer of this simple kitchen is set off by honey-cream English Ash in both solid and veneer, which gives a great feeling of space. The curved legs give the island a slightly Fifties twist: worktops are honed black granite.
This room is a homage to designer Johnny Grey, whose work is admired by my clients as well as me. The interlocking circular islands are in a mixture of Cherry and Aspen veneer, with a simple herringbone inlay. We chose Lacewood and solid Cherry for the "court cupboard" and the little dresser, its base also curved, uses dichroic glass. However showy, this room is where the children sit to do their homework.
Ultra-sleek furniture for a Mayfair kitchen designed by Katharine Pooley. The doors combine high-gloss panels with frames in Oak, sprayed so as to show the grain through the colour we found the metallic paint from a Porsche brochure. The deep edge is mitred onto the marble worktops, and splashbacks are in bronze mirror glass.
Not a kitchen design concept for the shy and retiring! We found ultra-long leaves of Macassar Ebony and wrapped it round the curves, book-matching the veneer at the centre line of the pan drawers and the Viking hob and grill. The finish is a hand polished high gloss, the worktops are solid granite 6cm thick and the final touch is provided by glass tiles backed with gold leaf.
